The Zissios family heritage began in one of the oldest wine-making regions in the world.  Our family tradition of wine-making began in the picturesque mountains of Greece. Just as John Zissios grew up making wine with his father and grandfather in Greece, his sons have been doing the same. The family continues to draw inspiration from their memories of wine-making. The Blue Valley Vineyard & Winery property has been owned by John and Helen Zissios for twenty plus years with their first vines planted more than 16 years ago. For many years, John has proudly brought out his wine for friends and family to enjoy.

The Zissios family wants to keep this tradition and to share their wine with new friends. Blue Valley Vineyard and Winery arose as a family owned and operated business with a masterful blend of the Zissios family heritage along with the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. At Blue Valley, we produce wine varietals best suited to the climate and soil of our vineyard which include Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Muscat. All the grapes are crushed and fermented on site in our 10,000 square feet production facility.

The Zissios family believes that the key to making good wine is patience and attention to detail, a motto which is upheld daily by the family and guided by three generations of vintner expertise.
