WINE MAKING

While the Zissios family is greek, the wine is not.

Blue Valley produces wine varietals best suited to the climate and soil of the Virginia vineyard. These include Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Muscat Ottonel. All the grapes are crushed and fermented on-site in our 10,000 square feet production facility. Blue Valley’s facility is among the largest in Virginia. Our winemaking style is a cross between traditional and well-established, old-world winemaking methods and new-world wine-making innovation.

We age our red wine for 14-34 months in oak. Some of our white and rose wines are aged in smaller, stainless steel tanks. All of our stainless steel tanks were made specifically for Blue Valley in South Africa and can hold more than 22,355 gallons of wine combined! If you would like to take a tour please contact us at 540-364-2347 to schedule.

We will be closed March 27. We will reopen March 28.
